Rumor mill: iPhone will allow native apps if we "wait"

Well, the rumors have started already that Apple will eventually let native applications to be written for the iPhone. "Wait ... just wait" were the alleged words from an alleged iPhone engineer. I hope its true.

Personally, after my Cingular 8125 died a couple of weeks ago I upped for a Samsung BlackJack to replace it, even though I have iPhone lust. Robin wisely counseled me to "wait, just wait" on the iPhone. And she was right - just the 3G support alone is worth the BlackJack. The iPhone will just use the Edge network. While 3G is no broadband it is a heck of a lot quicker than Edge - it actually makes it worth using the web from the phone.

Only one thing wrong with the BlackJack - for some reason Samsung crippled the Java Midlet environment. Bah! But wait, I don't think the iPhone's going to have that anyway ;)

In any case, I tend to last about 18 months between cell phones. Who knows what will be cool by then?
